For people buying electric vehicles in Canada, these vehicles account for only 18 per cent of their energy use, compared to just 14 per cent in United States. Of the 17 million electric vehicles in Canada, just 30,000 make use of fossil fuel power, so it's unclear how much is in the country's fuel savings.
