Another point to mention is that, once a plant is turned on and ready when it is lit up, lights don't go out all that frequently. In fact, some plants can be turned back on and lit up quickly for various reasons. I've been doing this in two of my books: Plants of Light and Plants of Darkness, which shows which plants produce and which plants do not produce lights. These two plants, while still the same type, are quite different shades of light depending on how they are lit up and if the lights are turned on and off.
